Discovering Accessibility Issues
This short workshop used to be called ‘accessibility scavenger hunt’. It’s perfect for anyone who works in a digital design team.
You'll find out about:
- common accessibility pain points
- frustrations that disabled users experience
- barriers that inconsiderate design can create for assistive tech users
- quick ways to test the accessibility of your work
The training team
You’ll learn from trainers with accessibility needs. Kevin Mc Laughlin and Marian Avery are both registered blind (they both have some vision), and use assistive technology every day.
Marian and Kevin have worked in accessibility and content design for private, public and charity organisations for over 35 years, combined. They have worked with, trained, mentored and coached thousands of people in content accessibility.

What previous participants say
“It was well paced and very engaging. The hands on exercises were a great learning experience - it's one thing to read about frustration but a totally different thing to feel the frustration yourself. The exercises really demonstrated how painful it is to use websites that are not accessible.”
- Emma Cassidy
“Amazing session. Everyone who has anything to do with creating content for the web should have this experience.”
- Graeme Yorkston
The accessibility of our courses
Our courses are as accessible as possible by default. We:
- share slides in advance
- use live captions
- send transcripts on request
- have breaks for people to reenergise
This workshop has some inaccessible elements for demonstration purposes. These will be fully described with content warnings.
If there is anything else we can do to make the course more accessible for you, email us at coursebooking@contentdesignireland.ie.
