Making Data Accessible

This workshop is perfect for anyone working in content design or data publishing. You do not need to have the job title ‘content designer’.

You'll learn:

  • about common accessibility problems with data visualisations
  • how to make tables, spreadsheets, charts and graphs accessible
  • ways to talk to stakeholders about making data accessible
  • to spot clues which tell you how to present data in the most accessible way
  • how to test whether your data is accessible to different assistive technology users

This workshop is about all types of data and data visualisation. It has exercises on:

  • HTML tables
  • writing data descriptions
  • testing the accessibility of your data

The training team

You’ll learn from trainers with accessibility needs. Kevin Mc Laughlin and Marian Avery are both registered blind (they both have some vision), and use assistive technology every day.

Marian and Kevin have worked in accessibility and content design for private, public and charity organisations for over 35 years, combined. They have worked with, trained, mentored and coached thousands of people in content accessibility.
